Last Blog on the Final Session of the 2020 Poker season – The Villain

Hate him, love him. There is no denying that the Villain is a good player when it comes to Hold’em. There are tons of stories of when he would have games at his house when he was younger and would make a killing taking paychecks signed over to him and then would win the money back as well. I wish I would have started playing that long ago!!!

He won the league.  He did win one month outright but that was it.  What he did do was he played consistent, tournament poker. As good as he is, I feel like he has lost his passion for poker compared to ten years ago.  He was there when I first started playing the game and he was deadly. A killer. Owned his player that was against him in the hand. He played the mental game like no other. Oh, the trash talk! He had people’s head spinning. I might be wrong but he is not that same guy today. Maybe it’s his lack of playing online with the COVID-19. Maybe he just doesn’t like online games. With COVID-19 outbreak, we moved games online to PokerStars and play a monthly game, which he has only played in maybe twice. My thoughts are if you are good at poker, and you win at poker live, you will be a winner online as well. Yes, there are factors in live play that are not online. Same goes the other way of online play that does not happen in live play. But you should be able to adjust and play your game. Over a large sample, you will yield the results that you are playing. Small samples mean nothing. The “good” players get on and don’t get a bluff through and they think that online is fixed! There is always so much talk among the league on the results of online poker. If you are using a session or a few sessions as to your ability to play online, you are really looking at it all wrong.

I remember nine and ten years ago when I would play the Villain heads up because we both loved the game so much! See the picture on this blog?  That was 2011. Those days were so much fun and the cash games after the tournament play was simply the best of times! From prop bets on the flop to cards being slammed into the wall because yes, a full house beats your straight, we saw it all.

Congratulations to the Villain (who really is no Villain #pokerterm) – Kyle, on his 2020 Poker League win! Well done KP!!
