My first entry to my site. I have given much thought as to what to write about. There are so many things that come to mind but there will be time for all that “stuff” in future entries.
Today, I want to thank the person that started me playing poker, Joel Schmidt. It was a fluke. Joel came up to me and said, “Hey, Bucky! We are starting a league for Texas Hold’em and we need you to play!”. I told Joel that I had never ever played the game and I declined. A few days later I received the e-mail that went to the group playing and MY NAME WAS ON THE LIST! I saw Joel that day and he said, “Well, looks like you’re playing!”
I asked Joel if he would help me and he said yes. When we played the first league game, I had two goals. First, to win that night (I know, not a realistic goal), and to NOT go out first! Well, I didn’t win so scratch that one. I achieved my second goal! I didn’t go out first! I went out second!
Joel was very encouraging. He told me to keep playing. So I did. He told me to join an online game. He played FullTilt, so I joined. Needless to say, I logged many hours as well as many lessons. After eleven months of playing, I am much, much better than where I started. I am not going to say good, or great. I am green and growing but believe me, getting better everyday!
