No, that’s not the Journey song you’re thinking of, “Don’t Stop Believing”, its don’t stop dreaming. You have to have a goal, a vision of where you want to be. I talk and joke with people all the time about this poker journey I am on. Some laugh, some are doubters and others just don’t care. Then there are the few that know me and know me well. They know that when I decide to do something, it takes a lot to stop me at achieving my goal. I learn and understand and absorb as much as I can. Knowledge is power. As I was developing my leadership skills many, many years ago, I did the same thing then that I am doing now. I studied leadership styles of Zig Ziglar, Richard Tostie, Tom Peters, Napoleon Hill, and TQM just to name a few. I also learned from the people around me. Some leaders showed me how to be great and what to do. Others showed me what NOT to do by their actions, so I actually learned from everyone. I was excited way back then. It was fun, I was making a difference and everything had meaning. Like Yogi Bera said “This is like deja vu all over again.” I am having fun, learning good and bad things from different people, being a sponge and dreaming! Back then I would often quote the people I was studding. One of my favorites was Zig Ziglar’s quote, “You can have anything in life you want if you help enough other people get what they want.” Today, I say things like “Rama Jama Baby!” Not as profound but does have meaning. So as I continue to learn, I’ll keep on dreaming.
