I have spent the last three months doing nothing but playing tournaments whenever I played poker. From nine man Sit and Gos (SNG) to large size games with up to 1000 players. I have worked on my play and I continue to learn. I have listened to top players talk about their play and what they do in different situations, what to look for in a player to give you the edge over them. I listen to Podcast of all the shows and I love it when they have the top players on for an interview. I get more from those segments than anything. If you ask most players, they will pick a side. Either they are a tournament player or they are a cash game player. For me, I have figured it out. I thought I was a tournament player because I had a higher percentage of winning those instead of cash games. I heard a kid on Two Plus Two Poker talk about his cash game and what he accomplished. I got online and worked on my game. I started playing multiple tables and the action was manageable and it was easy enough to keep up on. After the past six sessions, I have decided that I am not a tournament player. I am not a cash table player. I like both styles the same and know that I not only enjoy both, but can win both. So the next time someone asks me the question if I play tournaments or cash games, the answer is yes. If they ask which one I like the best, my answer is doesn’t matter. I am a poker player.
Next week is the monthly poker night with the guys. I’ll have an update on the Joel vs Sir Bucky wager with the Commissioner Thursday!
