For starters, I am so sorry for not updating my blog before now. I wrote some time ago that times are busy! Well, it doesn’t stop. Between my daughter graduating high school and my son getting married, soccer tournaments and oh yeah, work as well, you can only imagine what my schedule has been.
WSOP is running strong. I stay current with everything going on in Vegas and cannot wait until I am playing in it. All the big names are there and I cannot tell you that when I hear the conversation of a “pro” poker talk about in one breath how well he is playing and before those words are out, that he is out of the event, it makes me know that their story is no different than yours or mine. Play is so much better now than it was 8-10 years ago. Man, I wish I was playing then. Yes, it is one of my goals to play in any WSOP event but there is a time and place for everything. I will tell you now that it will be in the next ten years. With the 1k and 1500k buy ins, it makes it very realistic to play and earn a WSOP bracelet.

My play continues to get better. I am putting all my efforts right now into tournament play. I have had some very deep runs based on the number of players. Finishing like 151 in a tournament that started with a number of 4500 or more. I really expect to finish top in one soon so I will keep you posted when that happens. It is amazing how you can lead in the top 10 spots for three hours and in two or three hands be on tilt and out. You have got to stick to your plan!

The Joel bet update: This month I finished 4th and Joel finished 9th so I picked up five more points in the spread. I knocked Joel out in a hand that he had many outs to come and my hand held. It’s only month four and there is a lot of poker to be played. I have mentioned that Joel’s favorite hand is the K10. We call it The Schmidt. I was playing when we were down to four and a really tight player went all in. He had me covered by a few hundred and yes, I had The Schmidt. I thought for a minute and put the guy on QQ based on how long he took to call. I was thinking that I had a chance to catch a card and based on what I thought, I called. He turns over QQ, I turn over my K10. The flop comes A 4 J. Then another Ace. I didn’t think the Q was going to hit with two already out so I was hoping for one or a king. Didn’t hit and I was out. I played well up to that point. When I did loose a good size hand, I fought back and for the most part the final four stayed even for a long time. So with me going out on The Schmidt, is that kind of like Joel putting me out???? Aaaaaa…. nah. Oh and Kyle, that one time I pushed all in and you thought for about ten hours, yeah, I was bluffing…..

I have been in the poker league for one year and four months. You know I love playing poker but I also like the fact that I got to meet some new people as well. One of them is DJ Bosse. With his height I knew he had to play basketball when he was younger. He did play in college. We moved offices recently, and when we did, Joel came accross a list from 1993 showing all the McDonald’s All American nominees for High School basketball. DJ was first on the list so here’s a shout out to you DJ!
