Wow! What a crazy year 2010 was! Sooo much happened, it’s hard to look back and reflect on. Personally in my family, I had so much going on with grand-babies, engagement, college, moving, and work. I look forward to 2011 to see what it holds and cannot wait to “get better at being better” (inside joke)!
For poker, I am not pleased as to where I am at in my game play. The word that comes to my mind is consistent. I am not consistent on my results. Yes, I know, how do you become consistent in a game of skill when there is also luck involved. Well, from my perspective, consistency means deeper runs in tournaments. More cashes. Better finishes. Making better decisions. There are times when I make the right read or I make the right call and I am on target 100%. Other times, I know what the hand is my opponent has, call it out, and still make the bad call. That has got to change. My self thought of maybe I am wrong has to go away. I know what I know based on the facts in front of me. I have got to trust what the reads are.
I can however tell you this, I am a better player today than when 2010 started. I have a game plan for 2011 that I hope will help me get there. I keep telling myself that I am still learning. It has only been 22 months of playing. Am I happy with what I have learned in 22 months? That answer is yes. Am I happy with the results I have achieved over the past 22 months? NO!
So, my goal for 2011 is to be able to sit down at my Mac Book Pro (great Xmas gift BTW) in 2012 and give you an update of 2011 with some major highlights from the play for the year. Guess only time will tell.
Short term, there is one goal to hit. Currently in second place in the poker league with two months to go. That goal is to finish strong these final two months and then hit’em hard as the new year of poker league continues!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
